This is going to be my drink of summer. I’m not sure if summer has officially started yet, but I know this Easy Sparkling White Wine Sangria will be the drink I mix up when friends are on their way over, visiting with family at Lake Michigan, or when Neal and I just need something chill to sip on a lazy-hazy-crazy days of summer. It is perfect–takes 5 minutes, is loaded with fruit and mint, and naturally flavored with honey or agave. Could this Easy Sparkling White Wine Sangria possibly be any better?!
I love this Easy Sparkling White Wine Sangria. My mom was here to visit for a long weekend and we enjoyed a few pitchers of this Easy Sparkling White Wine Sangria! We had so much fun with her here! Between watching movies, exploring Eureka Springs, touring Crystal Bridges museum, and catching up, the weekend just flew by. I love when people visit us! I think there is something so special about opening up our home and hosting family and friends. And she is the perfect person to test some new recipes on–which I can’t wait to share! We tried roasted tomato caprese salad, vegan nachos, and easy baked chicken. Unfortunately, our little Dobby really had no idea why this woman was staying with us and would bark whenever Mom would walk towards the back of the house. Anyone else have a reactive dog? How do you deal when you have guests visiting? He barked like crazy when she first came, but calmed down after a few spoonfuls of peanut butter but would still bark whenever Mom walked towards the guest room. He wasn’t like that with other guests, so I’m not sure what the trigger was. Maybe it’s because she has brown hair and our other guests have had blonde hair?
Anyways, I digress. You want to know the best part about this Easy Sparkling White Wine Sangria? It literally takes like 5 minutes to make. Seriously! The honey simple syrup is the one thing that requires any actual cooking. But if you’re feeling extra lazy (as I was when we first made it), then just sub with agave syrup to taste and don’t look back. It will be just as delicious.
I love using frozen fruit for this Easy Sparkling White Wine Sangria and used frozen peaches and cherries. It makes prep work so easy–no chopping or pitting required! And the best part about frozen fruit? There is no ice to water down the sangria so you’re left with a perfectly chilled drink that will not become watered down as it sits. Also, because there is a decent amount of rum, this Easy Sparkling White Wine Sangria packs a punch but goes down smooth. I also like to add fresh mint for a nice minty flavor. When you make this Easy Sparkling White Wine Sangria, please do not use a nice bottle of white wine. Use a bottle you would be more likely to drink in college than at a nice four course dinner. I used Kirkland’s Pinot Grigio, but I also think a Riesling or Chardonnay would be good as well. I would just adjust your sweetener of choice depending on the wine you use. A note on honey simple syrup: I found 1/4 cup to be the perfect amount for this Easy Sparkling White Wine Sangria. With 1/4 cup, it was just sweet enough without giving me a major headache that sometimes happens with overly sweet cocktails. However, honey simple syrup can be kept in the refrigerator for a few weeks, so feel free to double and sweeten to taste! I also think honey simple syrup would be divine in a gin and tonic. If using agave syrup, start with 1 – 2 tbsp. and increase as desired as agave tastes sweeter than honey.
After you make a batch, let me know in the comments what you think! Cheers to easy summer drinks!
p.s. this will serve about 6 – 8 people.
I love how gorgeous a pitcher of this is! It has such a pretty color from the peaches and cherries <3
I prefer to add in a bottle of San Pellegrino sparkling water. It makes it slightly bubbly, without weighing you down, like beer or a sparkling wine.
Little Dobby wasn’t too sure what was going on but he was being a good boi waiting patiently and out of the way!
